This Honda was typical of a 250 learner bike… been dropped a couple times, 10 years old & lacking appeal to the eye. Paint was thin on some components & signs of surface rust.
The plan was to turn this bike into a head turner, by giving it some “Bling” & repair all damage & repaint as required.
The bike was thoroughly cleaned then put up on stands, where both wheels were removed & the project began.
It is important to start the project clean: The motorcycle, partly dismantled then power washed removing all oil, tar & dirt. Particular attention under seat & tank & panels is important. While this takes a few hours, it’s clearer what needs what. Cost approx: $140
With the seat off, it is Custom Covered. Cost approx: $110 (Seat can be lowered & reshaped too)
All 2Pac paint is waxed & polished.
The Wheels had the tyres removed then were sent to have the edge skimmed & polished, while the existing paint polished. Cost approx: $380
The Headers & muffler was polished & guard straightened first then buffed too. Cost approx: $380
Triple clamps were cleaned & painted & handle bar clamps polished. Cost approx: $90
The paint was sanded off the Foot-pegs/mounts & Swing-arm supports, then polished along with grab bar & rad-protectors. The rubbers repainted & refitted with plastic shims for a tight new feel. Cost approx: $230
Motor covers are repaired both sides, then colour matched & painted. Cost approx: $100
Mirrors, headlight frame, rear calliper mount, forks, gauges, & black plastics are painted too. Cost approx: $100
Front brakes are slightly modified making Stoppies a synch.
Everything is fitted back together, checking correct alignment, chain tension, tyre pressures, new oil & filter & then test ridden.
This bike was lowered by checking fork travel & dropping & resetting rear spring preload to suit its girl biker owner. Cost approx: $50
Street-Fighter Screen is recycled from the “parts-bin”
For around $1650, this bike has been made to look better than new, with drop repairs, plenty of polished metal, new looking plastics, lowered to suit a chicky-babe & serviced, increasing its value & appeal to all.
